This notebook stands up to a lot! The other day, I accidentally placed it on the kitchen counter as I make my grocery list in this notebook. The backside got soaked overnight with water so I thought it was destroyed.
When the leather dried, it was as good as new. So glad I bought this!
Apparently my fountain pens now require their own luxury accommodation. 😂✒️ And honestly, they deserve it! This display case is absolutely gorgeous and looks fabulous on my desk. I love being able to see some of my favourite pens beautifully displayed. ❤️
An excellent product as would be expected from Galen. The original is one of my favourite pen cases and this leather version is a great homage to the original. The leather is hard wearing and attractive. The internal layout practical and safe for my pens. My only issue is the relatively flimsy material on the inside of the case. It’s quite sufficient for the three individual Pen pockets: but the separate pocket is loose and not very supportive if you want to put more Pens in that section. Otherwise fabulous effort.
I bought this as an alternative to the Leather Compendium, which is also great but I found it a bit small and impractical for my work use. This on the other hand is fantastic, love the pen slots and the cross bands are great for securing my tin of cartridges. I can store my documents in the pockets on either side and have my main work in the workspace on the right. The pockets on the left are great for my business cards and nick nacks. This is simple and straightforward and fab for everyday work.
Things you need to know about a mega shine ink such as this.
1. It needs a very large flow nib and pen. I use a cheap TWSBI with it, broad nib and that's worked great for me.
2. You need to "mix" it every couple of lines. THERE IS SO MUCH SHIMMER IN THIS INK. It will settle, and it will settle fast. So flip the pen a couple of times, and keep writing.
3. You need a paper that isn't absorbent. The ink needs to be able to sit on top of the paper and mix with the oxygen to get this color (this takes a little bit, but the drying time is quite fast compared to other wet inks I've owned. I have Rhodia notebooks that work well, my Black & Red works well, and I imagine even up to the 120gsm LEUCHTTURM1917 paper will work, but don't quote me on that yet, still waiting for it to test, lighter gsm smooth papers we all know and love would do wonderfully.
If you are not willing to do or use those things, don't buy it, you'll be wasting your money for a cloggy blue only ink and aggravated like someone else. If you are willing to do those things you will be met with the most beautiful shimmery ink I've yet met. It really does look exactly like the sample images. It's a bright gorgeous blue that leans VERY heavily into a beautiful reddish purple. It instantly has become my go to ink for daily writing just so I can see it as much as possible.
The Deep Cognac leather is absolutely gorgeous! The color is rich and warm, and the quality of the craftsmanship is evident in every detail. The stitching is beautifully done, the zipper is smooth and sturdy, and the interior lining adds a lovely finishing touch. I especially love how the leather feels soft and supple while still having enough structure to hold its shape.
The organization is equally impressive. The three dedicated pen slots keep my fountain pens securely in place, while the additional compartments offer plenty of room for other pens, stationery essentials, and notebooks. I currently have eight fountain pens and two small notebooks inside, and everything fits comfortably without feeling bulky or overstuffed.
It's a wonderful combination of beauty, quality, and functionality. The thoughtful design makes excellent use of the space, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase!
I ended up ordering two of these, one for my son, for his birthday, and decided I probably should have one for myself as well. When I reached out to Galen, I told them that there was a bit of a time constraint because I had made the decision to buy this closer towards his birthday. They were very accommodating, and made sure that the package with the two pens, the inks and the leather writing sleeves were shipped before his birthday came along. This was his first fountain pen and the Viviant Green is just spectacular in person. Hats off to Galen leather for another seamless purchase!!!

I absolutely love this case, I use it all the time, contents change weekly depending on what I'm doing at the time. This case is so versatile you can use it for pens/pens, pens/notebook, pens/edc equipment - batteries, cables, torch, scissors, pen knife, tape measure etc etc Pens/small printer. Unfortunately 1 of my pens leaked overnight and has stained it at the bottom, but I don't mind, it adds to the character. The quality of this case is exceptional and will last for years. It goes everywhere with me and yes I love it! Just waiting for the black one to come back into stock to go with my black tote bag, I will probably buy 2 as they are so perfect!
I love the A6 Green and it is wonderful and feels awesome in the hand. The wear and tear on the cover gives it character.
The paper on the other hand is no longer as fountain pen friendly as it used to be in previous versions. Shading is expected on this thin paper, but the version I got bleeds through and double sided use on the pages is difficult (the previous notebooks I had in this series did not have this problem).
An excellent desktop organizer. Removes clutter and makes your pens easy to find. The finishing is beautiful and worthy of display on any desk.
Galen leather shipped the item within a day and it was in my hands and on my desk in Canada in about a week.

LOVE it! This is my very 1st Galen Leather product and I love how versatile this pen case is. Though it was designed to hold 10 pens, Galen Leather also ensured that it could hold an A6 notebook.
For me, this is my daily stationery carrier. On the 1 side, I use it to keep my fountain pens and on the other side, it holds the essential stationery I use for journaling. Everything fits just perfect.
To top this, I love the Evil Eye Charm all the way from Turkey! It made the owning of such beautiful pen case a Special and Magical experience. I attached the charm to the small scissors I kept in this case!
And I can’t wait to see how the patina is going to develop in the coming months.

A lovely addition to my notebook. Makes me want to dive in and write more often than before. My Kaweco pen with a golden clip looks dazzling in this pen case.
My gold capped Parker 51 fits well and it looks great when I squeeze it out of the sheath for signing something important.
This is a great case from Galen Leather. It holds my collection of metal Kaweco's brilliantly. When you invest in decent pens, it's good to protect them and this case just does that really well. I got the Crazy Horse Brown and it's a lovely fine finish that will age beautifully.

Gorgeous case with a premium feel. My pens fit really snuggly into the slots with enough space for the larger ones too. Great leather that I think will age well. It’s also super light and supple too.
This is a stylish soft pen case of superb quality - the quality I've come to expect of Galen Leather. It is cloth lined and the finish is exceptional. There is also cloth protection along the zipper stitching that protects the top of taller fountain pens, like my Pilot Custom Urushi, the top of which that sits just under this protective seam. I've managed to fit 8 larger size fountain pens (Custom Urushi; King of Pen; 149; Homo Sapiens; 88 Big; M1000; GVFC Classic; Montegrappa Wild Artic) in along with a Rhodiarama webnotebook. This is a more generous capacity than I was expecting. It's wonderful!
This is my third Leather Zippered 10 Slots Pen Case from Galen, The leather is smooth and soft and the hardware is of good quality. I love it.
This is one of the best folios I have ever owned, the quality of leather is incredible, and it smells so good! Fits my A5 notebook perfectly with some room so the A5 may vary depending on the notebook. The pen holders are convenient, the slots are good for cards, stickers, washi tape really any kind of flat goods you like to carry around. Honestly it’s just beautifully made. Of your thinking about it, I promise it’s worth it!
Marks up a bit easily, but otherwise it's glorious. It holds shut tight, it's solid, it ferls great, and it holds all my pens well. Great buy.
I kept seeing this case online, but it was always sold out everywhere. I finally came across one at a pen show and immediately snapped it up. I’ve been using it ever since, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. I really love this case. There is one drawback I’ve noticed, though. When removing fountain pens from positions 1, 6, 7, and 12, you have to be a little careful because the teeth of the zipper can potentially scratch the pen barrel. I’ve worked around this by keeping a microfiber small cloth in the case and using it to cover the zipper whenever I take my pens out. The cloth also doubles as a pen wipe, so it actually works out pretty well. It’s not a deal breaker for me. I absolutely love this case and would highly recommend it.
I already have the same slim notebook cover in Crazy Horse Brown and the texture of the leather is sort of a rough, rustic or matte finish which is what I like. So I was disappointed when I got the Crazy Horse Tan and the texture is shiny smooth & reflective.
This notebook is amazing! I was nervous when I first felt and saw how thin the paper is, but after using this for 3+ weeks I am thrilled with this notebook. The paper is smooth and only shows minimal ghosting on the other side of the page. The paper is a nice creamy off-white/ivory color which is easy on the eyes.
Between this notebook, my new leather wrap cover I also got here, and my new journaling pen I got from Wancher (Tsuno - Hikage), I want to write all the time. I may break out a section specifically for creative writing which I have not attempted since I was in school. All the inks I've tried on this paper are well behaved and look amazing!
